Rattle Snakes - Rattle snakes have been found in yards near creeks in the last couple of days. The heavy rains have pushed them out of their holes so be on the look out and tell your neighbors.
Regular pool hours are as follows:
Tuesdays - Sundays 10am to 10pm
Mondays - Closed for cleaning
This is a family pool and have many teenagers there all day without supervision. Please remind your children of the rules. Remember, there are no water guns, cans, glass or food allowed inside the pool area. You will loose your pool privileges after a warning if the rules are broken or property destroyed. NOTE: If you do not have your pool tags, please purchase more from any pool monitor for $5 each.
LARGE DUMPSTERS: The board is trying to get large dumpsters in the fall for our homeowners to throw away items not picked up by our regular garbage service but need volunteers. It was noted that Waste Management will pick up large, bundled items if they have room on their truck.
CLUBHOUSE RENTALS: THANK YOU Audra Miller for your years of being in charge of our clubhouse rental. Now, please contact Cheryl Gonzales at 210.836.7606. Thank you Cheryl! There is a deposit that will be returned to you if the clubhouse is left as you got it. There are usable items but please provide your own paper products and toiletries.
STEEL TRAPS: A homeowner asked if we are allowed to set steel traps for animals after finding a cat on her porch that was hurt from a trap. NOTE: It is illegal to set steel traps in a residential neighborhood and without a license.
Please call Animal Control at 249.9721 or Fish & Wildlife Office if you see a trap or have any problems with stray animals. There have been complaints about roaming animals destroying property.
GARAGE SALE: A big thank you to Beverly Nettles who tried to organize a neighborhood garage sale. Many houses did participate. Would love to see someone organize another in the fall.
SUMMER IS HERE: There are many walkers/runners and children on the streets with spring starting and warmer temperatures so we ask that you please slow down so we don’t have an unfortunate accident in our neighborhood. For those that are interested, here is a guideline of the distance it is to walk/run from the clubhouse to different locations:
Clubhouse parking lot to 4-way stop at Doeskin and Ranger Drive and back - 1.4 miles
Clubhouse parking lot to I-10 by apartments on Doeskin and back - 2.2 miles
Clubhouse parking lot down Doeskin to I-10 to end of Creekside Terrace on other side of Mission Pharmaceutical and back - 3.4 miles
Clubhouse parking lot to the 4-way stop at Doeskin and Ranger Drive, then down Ranger Drive to I-10 and back - 2.8 miles
NOTE: To the cars that are coming home after dark: if you have your bright lights on and are passing a walker/runner, it blinds the person so please be considerate and turn your bright lights down…..and REMEMBER, PLEASE SLOW DOWN!!!
ATTRACTING BIRDS: Many gardeners provide water for the birds and sugar water for the hummingbirds. A shallow masonry bath sitting on a masonry stand is very effective. Garbage can covers and ceramic baths also work. Small birds will drink from the sides of a deeper pan, but if you want them to use it for bathing the water source should have areas that are 2” deep or less. It helps if the birds can grip the sides and bottom of the bath. Place the bird bath at a visible location in an open space so cats can’t lay in cover to pounce on wet birds. The bird bath must be refilled each day. Rinse it every time you fill it to reduce the chance of algae growing. Like bird baths, hummingbird feeders are readily available. Whatever design you select, make sure it is relatively easy to rinse out, clean and refill. There are some that have bee guards. The hummingbirds can easily empty a feeder in a week. Sometimes they have help from house finches, woodpeckers and orioles. Fill the feeder with a solution of 4 parts water to one part sugar by volume. Red food coloring has traditionally been added but not necessary. Northwest weekly 6.17.10 By Calvin R. Finch
